Its a lot if all that is needed is an adjustment, no longer than a 10-15 min job if you have done it before.
see my other emails & attachments.
Many Thanks & Regards

For what it's worth, and I am certainly by no means have the knowledge that 99.9% of the other contributors to this site have, I had exactly the same problem last year with the sunroof on my 1990 560 SEC.
I don't know where you are, but I took the car to Keenan Motors in Doylestown, PA and they did the fix for me for about $1100.00. The headliner was removed, I'm pretty sure, and the problem turned out to be a broken lifting bar and bridge. Made the sunroof cockeyed and impossible to close.
When they opened the area, they ordered the needed parts, and at least one of them didn't fit, apparently from the time of the building of the car. They were able to get a correct part and complete the job promptly and it has been fine since. Free loaner for the entire time the car was there, and they obviously had it inside the entire time. I was very satisfied with their work, and the cost was reasonable, I think.
I'm not sure if this all applies to you, but there it is.

It can be done, but it's tricky and time consuming....

Can anyone give some insight as to how or what is needed to replace the sunroof seal properly on an 87-560 SEC. I have the sunrood seal inastalled my a local body shop recommeded by the local Benz dealer, the problem is the sunroof will not close completly to the close position and cannot be raised to the tilt position. I have been told that I need to pay them to remove the entire headliner in order to install it correctly. Makes no sense if that was the case it should have been done the first time.
