Hi Robert,
From you description, it sounds more like thermostat. If you need to
limp back to the mechanic, remove the tstat with engine cold, then
careflully observe temps as you head his way. New stat and seal must be
installed where the air vent hole in the tstat rim is at the high point
of the engine so air bleeds off properly. You don't say if this
condition existed before the mech. trip. You dopn't say if the AC was
running. How old are the radiator and visco clutch. Did the electric
aux fan ever kick in?
