I just checked the Kodak web site. I think the backing itself is called
Remjet. The following, for instance, describes some methods of removing it
from motion picture film.

Kodak seems to be using another method of anti-halation these days. The
new release print and intermediate stocks don't have Remjet. They appear to
be using an internal anti-halation layer in combination with an anti-static
coating of some sort which survives processing. Part of the function of
Remjet was to drain off static charges.
All this has nothing to do with LF. Whatever its called its found only on
35mm and 16mm film.
