Diane,
there are lots of good landscape oportunities in the Lake District and
Snowdonia! The only drawback is that (by US standards) they are both
relatively small areas and can get crowded in the summer, especially near
the popular spots. That said, a bit of daytime scouting should give you
plenty of ideas for early morning/late evening when the light is better and
the people are away. Try and get a copy of Outdoor Photography (I could
check out my back copies if you like) for some inspiration/ideas. It's a UK
magazine, but I believe its available overseas.
One thing, there is little, if any, true wilderness in England and Wales,
but the 'managed' lanscape is very old and has a beauty of its own.
