No, I never tried WIATHOUT the hood... I use a 135mm F3.5 Nikon F lens hood
on my 450... works great, cheap, and is made from REAL metal.....  For the G
Claron, I used a rubber collapsible hood... worked fine....

The 305 G Claron is a 3x overkill.... it will cover almost 11x14.....
compared to the paltry tiny miniature  4x5 neg ( tongue in cheek)  But it
does do double duty....

My 450 Fuji C also covers 11x14.....  or there abouts.....

I always wondered whay you must raise and lower the front LB, instead of
just moving the CFH around on an enormous GG back....
